echinacea Root tea
Echinacea purpurea
This remarkable North American wildflower is often called purple cone flower after its distinctive pink, purple flowers. The name Echinacea is a reference to its appearance, translating from the Greek, ‘Spiny one’, purperea refers to the colour. Its popularity as an ornamental flower has led to its cultivation right around the world.
Beyond the garden this herb has long been revered by native Americans for its many outstanding properties. Echinacea purpurea contains multiple substances, such as polysaccharides, caffeic acid derivatives (including caftaric and cichoric acids), alkylamides, and glycoproteins but the herb has a good history as a culinary use too. The flower can be added to salads, and the distinctive flavour of the root makes it an ideal candidate for herbal infusions.
The root provides a fascinating and stimulating beverage which is widely available in herbal teas. Aquasol’s Echinacea root provides the herb in a whole new delivery system in which to enjoy this powerful herb. Just pouring hot water onto our super-fine powder so the herb can disperse evenly throughout the drink, both the infusion and the whole herb can be consumed, which adds a new level to Echinacea with added convenience.
